One big difference is that AP courses prepare students to do well on the AP Exams, and getting a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam could earn your child college credit or advanced placement in college (i.e., they can skip intro-level courses). Honors classes don’t necessarily prepare students for AP Exams, and there is no way to earn college credit simply by taking an honors class.

Another difference is that every course with the "AP" label has been reviewed and approved by college faculty to make sure the course covers college-level content and skills and asks students to do college-level work.
